Revision of CSIR Fellowships/Associateships:

The Governing body (GB), CSIR in its 186th meeting held on 16th July 2015 considered and approved /sanctioned the proposal for enhancement of rates of stipend in respect of various CSIR fellowships such as CSIR JRF, CSIR SRF, CSIR RA Category I, II, III, along with GATE, SPM and CSIR Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in CSIR and its official laboratories. The enhanced rates of fellowships, effective from 1st October 2014 as follows:

Applications are invited, in the prescribed format, for the award of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (JRF 2016)  for Ph.D. in Life Sciences at Tata Memorial Centre. The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is an autonomous Grant-in-aid Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy. The TMC is comprised of the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) and the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH). The TMC conducts Ph.D. program in Life Sciences and is affiliated to the Homi Bhabha National Institute (Deemed University).

On-going research at TMC includes basic and translational research in Cancer Biology. Specific research topics include study of cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, metastasis, tumor immunology, molecular imaging, carcinogenesis, stem cell biology, biophysics, structural biology, bioinformatics, proteomics, genomics, genetics, epigenetics.

Qualifications: M.Sc. (Applied Biology / Biochemistry / Bioinformatics / Biophysics / Biotechnology / Botany / Life Sciences / Microbiology/ Molecular Biology / Zoology or related Biological Sciences) / M.Tech. (Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology); M.V.Sc.; M.Pharm. from a recognized University, with ³ 60% aggregate marks. Those awaiting results may also apply. Candidates having done post-graduation course of only 1 year duration are not eligible.

Stipend: Rs. 25000/-+ 30% HRA (if hostel facility is not allotted) per month as applicable. Limited hostel facility is available on the ACTREC campus on first come, first served basis.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the CSIR JRF NET Examination, June 2016. CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test Tentatively on Sunday 19th June, 2016 for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF’ OR for ‘Lectureship (LS) only’ He/she may indicate his/her preference in the Online Application, as the case may be. CSIR may consider candidates for ‘JRF’, or ‘Lectureship only” depending on number of fellowships available & performance in the test, subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criterion. If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only. Candidates with M.Sc. qualification OR under M.Sc. Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for LS subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.

JNCASR SRFP 2016 Notification

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore offers summer fellowships for two months to bright undergraduate and MSc students (renewable for a second year for selected students). This programme has proved to be popular and competitive; each year, about 5000 students from all over India apply for the 120 fellowships awarded. Fifty fellowships are supported by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, fifteen by the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, New Delhi, and the rest by the Centre. Students are placed with research groups at the Centre or with scientists elsewhere in India. They are paid travel expenses and a monthly stipend of Rs. 6000/- Selected students get the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research, and several summer projects have led to publications in leading journals. Most of the summer students of past years have gone on to pursue graduate studies and a research career, at the JNCASR or at another leading university

The summer research projects will be reviewed by a committee and the best will be chosen for the award of Rajiv Gandhi Science Talent Research Fellows.
